Covered California Open Enrollment Is Here
November begins the peak time for Californians to examine their health insurance plans, especially those with insurance coverage through Covered California. Below are a few important things to consider as you look at your Covered California plan optoins for 2020.
Plans costs and benefits change every year!
Every year people are caught offguard in February when they find that there heatlh plans benefits and monthly cost have changed. They are often surprised when their cost has gone up dramatically, even though they did not have any changes to their income. It cannot be emphasize enough that EVERY YEAR, Health PLAN BENEFITS AND Monthly COSTS CHANGE!
Make sure that you review your exiting plan cost and benefits for 2020 becuase they chage every year. If you let your plan “autorenew” you may have a much higher cost for the same plan you had last year. This means you could get stuck with a more expensive health insurance plan, with lower benefits, that you cannot afford. Nobody wants that…..
Additionally, its important to review your plan info through Covered California, not just with your insurance copany. Your Insurance company will send you renewal information but they cannot always give you an accurate estimation of your monthly premium. This is because they do not have access to your subsidy information through Covered California. This year especially because of the extra subsidies for high earners provided by the state of California. These are in addition to the federal subsiedies that have always been available. Only Covered california or Certified Enrollment Entity ,like us :), can assist you with accurate information about your 2020 plan cost. Give us a call we are happy to help!
